能不能說說怎麽安裝。
剛簽了個n95,可是不會用GPS,是用電腦下載MAP?然後裝進去?
概念很模糊,有誰詳細說的話,萬分感激
this's a copy/paste from another forum
Q: Can I avoid huge data charges when using the Maps Application?
A. Yes, it is possible to download all the maps that you need to your phones memory card. Follow the instructions below:
1. Run the GPS software (maps) with the memory card inside. Exit the program.
2. Install maploader on your PC. You can download this at
http://www.smart2go.com/en/help/maploader3. Connect your handset via USB and select "mass storage" on the N95.
4. Launch maploader and follow the instructions.
On step 1 if you've already run Maps without your card inserted, you need to do it again. You may also need to get a GPS fix first and download at least 1 map over the air (WLAN / GPRS) for it to create the directory structure. This is what I did but Im not sure if it's an absolute requirement or not.
Q. The above method isn't working for me. Is there another way?
A. Yes there is, Follow these instructions and it should work.
Via a Google and a bit of a play around with my SD card, I think Ive found a workaround to allow people to download the maps without your phone / SD card attached,...
To do it, you'll need a USB memory stick (as big as possible, pref 512Mb or 1Gb)
1 - Run Maps on your phone with your memory card inserted. Set your map percentage usage to say 50% and then exit the app*
2 - Connect your phone to your PC in Mass Storage Mode
3 - Insert your USB stick and create a folder on the root called "Private"
4 - Browse your phone and find the following folder \Private\20001f63
5 - Copy the folder 20001f63 and all it's contents from the phone to the \Private folder on the USB stick, so your USB stick now also has a folder structure \Private\20001f63\
6 - Now disconnect your phone from the PC whilst leaving the USB stick attached, and run Maploader. It should now think that your USB stick is in fact your SD card, so you can download maps to the USB stick!
7 - Once downloaded, attach the phone as Mass Storage again then copy the folder from the USB stick across to the SD card and run Maps on your phone.
* NB, the percentage you chose here seems to also relate to the percentage of the size of your USB stick, so if you have a small USB stick (say 256Mb), make sure you set the % quite high otherwise you'll run out of available space as Maploader will only allow you to download up to the percentage space limit set by Maps.
Under the Options menu in Maps, you can now set it so it does not connect to your GSM / 3G.
Finally a 3rd way:
1. Go into Applications: Maps
2. Once it has loaded go to Settings> Network, and click 'Use network' and set it to 'when needed'. Then scroll down to 'Default Access Point' and click it. Set this to your WLAN router. If your router is not on here, just click 'Easy WLan'. Then, when it tries to connect, it will auto search for it.
3. Now come out of the settings back to the main screen, and click 'GPS Position'. Hopefully your phone will have detected the satellites, if not move the phone about, and sometimes it finds them.
4. The phone will now find your location using the built in gps, and connect to the internet through the router and download the map... this means that the phone will now display your position, including surrounding streets etc.
5. I zoomed out, and got as many near by villages in the screen as possible, just so the phone remembers it (worth a try)...
6. So finally you can exit the maps application, and when you do this, it says 'saving maps'. your phone now has the map for your location/county basically...
7. Whenever i want to go somewhere far away... I search for it at home whilst I am connected to the wireless lan, and save the map prior to going. So now, I pretty much have maps for as far away as 100 miles.
Hope that helps someone. BTW the phone does not need a phone signal for the GPS to work. GPS uses satellites and is independant of the mobile phone network.
