Best Buys washing machines
You'll be amazed at differences between washing machines. The 21st Century household must have a washing machine that will clean all kinds of clothes quickly. We've tracked down the machines that meet today's needs.
The 21st century family puts its washing machine into action an average of five days a week, so it's no surprise to find that drum capacity is getting bigger and spin speeds higher to get the work done quicker.
There are currently 23 Best Buys - we find them by putting top selling machines from the high street through an intensive test programme. The best machines get your clothes cleaner, quicker and with low running costs. But our tests also reveal they vary in how well they rinse and spin, and how much noise they make.
Some machines take as much as 7kg or 8kg of clothes and there are even 10kg models available. Our current Best Buys take up to 9kg of clothes and yet you can get a Best Buy for well under £300.
Spin speeds
We also test new models from the leading brands. Many of the machines from the largest brands also boast a 1400rpm or 1600rpm spin speed rather than the more common 1200rpm, which helps save time on the line or energy use in the tumble dryer by removing more water. Yet some prove to be a disappointment, proving that brand name isn't everything when it comes to quality.
In our most recent testing we have checked which models are good for different disabilities including wheelchair use, reduced mobility, impaired dexterity and mobility.
Best Buys
Miele W 3240
• Price: £698
• Score: 71%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

A distinctive looking Best Buy that offers excellent wash results for cotton and short programs and good results for easy-care loads.
A consistently good performer on all loads, the cotton wash is relatively fast at just under two hours, but the short wash shaves just 20 minutes off this and takes one and a half hours.

AEG-Electrolux L62810
• Price: £306
• Score: 68%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

Although not the best across the board, this 6kg model scores points for excellent cleaning on both cotton and quick cycles.
A cotton wash does take nearly two and quarter hours but the quick wash saves you over an hour.

Bosch WBB 24759 Logixx
• Price: £780
• Score: 66%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

This enormous Best Buy allows you to pack in a whopping 9kg of dirty laundry and washes well. But you'll need lots of space to fit it.
Wash results are good and rinsing is better than most. Plus there are plenty of extra programs such as handwash and easy iron.

Miele W1512
• Price: £519
• Score: 66%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

The large door rim gives this Best Buy an imposing look. Inside, it’s one of only a few machines to provide outstanding cleaning on both cotton and quick programs, but handwash cycle we tried was disappointing because delicate items shrunk.
If you have sensitive skin this model is a good choice as rinsing is better than most of our other Best Buys. We liked the filter which is easy to clean and slip a drip underneath to capture waste water. This entry-level model has an AAB energy rating it is cheap to run thanks to low water and energy use.

AEG-Electrolux L64810
• Price: £374
• Score: 65%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

This machine is a Best Buy. Washing performance is excellent, and rinsing is better than most machines we've tested. Spin drying also proved to be acceptable.
There is a good choice of programs including easy iron, handwash, and extra rinse. The maximum spin speed of 1400rpm is variable, and can be reduced to avoid creasing delicate loads. The drum capacity is 6kg.

Miele Premier 520
• Price: £535
• Score: 65%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

Priced at the middle of the spectrum, the Premier 520 performs well with outstanding cotton and quick washes but the limited capacity may not suit large families.
At 5kg this is one of the smallest capacity models tested and is no smaller dimensionally than a number of 6kg models.

Miele W1714
• Price: £700
• Score: 65%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

The Miele W1714 includes a distinctive 6kg honeycomb drum and a few extra convenience features than the norm. Wash results are good on 40 degree loads and the low temperature 30 degree program did well.
What’s more rinsing is respectable and Miele have an outstanding reliability record in our annual survey.

Miele W1514
• Price: £550
• Score: 64%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

Sometimes we find more basic machines within a range don’t perform as well as their more sophisticated counterparts. However there are no such problems with this Best Buy - good cleaning across the board is the strength of this 1400rpm spin speed Miele machine.
The main 40 degree cotton wash is just shy of two hours and the short program which takes 75 minutes is fairly long however both programs shift stubborn stains such as chocolate well.

Zanussi-Electrolux ZWF1451W
• Price: £480
• Score: 63%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

This Zanussi-Electrolux Best Buy is packed full of useful features and provides a great cotton wash, and good cleaning across the board.

• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

This Best Buy is almost identical to the L62810, but has a higher 1400 spin speed. It’s great on its 1hr 6min short wash and cleans easy care fabrics well.
Spinning is good and it’s easy to use. The excellent quick wash takes just over an hour, but rinsing isn't the best though.

Siemens WXL127AGB
• Price: £600
• Score: 62%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

This striking Graphite grey Best Buy has plenty of wash cycle options and is one of the best for rinsing.
The expected wash cycles are present as well as easy iron, handwash and delayed start options, the last of which would suit economy seven users.

Tricity Bendix AW1260
• Price: £258
• Score: 62%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

This Tricity Bendix may be lacking in features but if you just want good washing performance at a low cost, this is the machine for you.
The 6kg capacity is average compared to the other machines on test. Washing results were very good for cotton and easy care, although the quick wash was just a little below the same standard.

Zanussi-Electrolux ZWF1237W
• Price: £350
• Score: 62%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

This Zanussi-Electrolux just outperformed its more expensive 1400rpm counterpart in our tests, washing consistently well across the board.

• Price: £370
• Score: 61%
• Freestanding or built-in: Freestanding

The large 7kg drum on this Best Buy means you can wash roughly six small towels, two pillow cases, 14 t-shirts, two sheets, three pairs of jeans and 14 socks.
This Zanussi-Electrolux machine cleans well on cotton, easy-care and short programs. Its 1400rpm spin speed should save time and energy, as it removes more water from your clothes, reducing tumble drying time. It also lowers drying time on the washing line.

Bosch WFX i2840
• Price: £860
• Score: 60%
• Freestanding or built-in: Built-in

The 6kg drum on the Bosch WFX i2840 is larger than most other built-in models. Cleaning is reasonably good, but is let down by slightly by poor levels of rinsing.
The default programs on this Bosch are set up for only cleaning light soils such as sweat and deodorant stains. Overall using this machine is easy but choosing programs to tackle dirtier washing at lower temperatures can be tricky. If you have dirtier laundry or a large load we’d recommend selecting the wash plus option, although this will increase the length of a wash cycle, and energy and water use.

AEG-Electrolux L12510Vi
• Price: £516
• Score: 58%
• Freestanding or built-in: Built-in

This built-in model has a delayed start function which allows the machine to be set up 19 hours in advance, and an electronic time remaining indicator.
It washes well across the board and has an excellent short wash which takes just over an hour. However rinsing is below par and adding an extra rinse cycle does little to increase detergent removal from clothes. The handwash program won’t damage delicate garments but is poor at cleaning.

等有空了给你查。

上面推荐的还真贵。个人觉得买洗衣机没必要买那么贵的,洗出来的都一样。而且很多贵一洗就2-3个小时。
有以上的钱(600-800),不如买张舒服的床睡。
ninny

Which? report : Washing machines | 27 July 2007
Features explained

The must-know info about capacity, energy and temperature. Manufacturers are introducing all kinds of things to make their machines stand out from the crowd. Some like extra large drums are a boon for a big family but others like 'reduced ironing' make little difference.

Large loads

Nearly every manufacturer is trying to outdo the next and produce the machine with the biggest capacity, so you can do more laundry in one go. These are useful in large households or for bulky items such as duvets.

New releases from Bosch and Whirlpool, allow you to pack in 9kg of dirty laundry, but the biggest capacity we've seen is a whopping 10kg on a LG machine.

Heavy users (who do more than five washes a week) are more likely to opt for a larger-capacity model . But just how much extra laundry does a bigger drum allow you to do?

Washing machines: What size drum do you need?
Size 6kg washing load 6kg
Capacity 6 small towels
2 pillowcases
6 T-shirts
2 sheets
2 pairs of jeans
14 socks
Verdict A 6kg load is usually large enough for most households

Size 7.5kg load 7.5kg
Capacity 6 small towels
2 pillowcases
10 T-shirts
2 sheets
4 pairs of jeans
14 socks
Verdict 7.5kg provides an opportunity to squeeze in an extra pair of jeans or two

Size 10kg load 10kg
Capacity 8 small towels
5 pairs of jeans
30 socks
4 pillow cases
3 sheets
15 T-shirts
Verdict 10kg is over double what a Which? member would do in one go.

Notes

1,770 Which? members completed an online survey in October 2006

Water and energy use per kilogram of washing are often lower for big machines – but only when you fill them up. Larger capacity machines can be very water-hungry. If you don't fill them up, you'll be wasting an awful lot of water. If you wash with a full load, they use less energy and water per item washed than a smaller machine. So they're efficient if you have a large family, but not if there are fewer of you.

Spin speed

Many machines now boast a high 1400rpm, 1600rpm or even 1800rpm spin speed rather than the more common 1200rpm which helps save time on the line or energy use in the tumble dryer by removing more water.

More often than not you will pay extra for this feature and it's worth bearing in mind that 1200rpm is usually adequate for most loads.

Convenience features

There are several features to look for, depending on how you use your washing machine. You can see which model has which feature by clicking on the model name in our products and prices table.

Extra rinsing This is useful for people with eczema, sensitive skin or allergies. An extra rinse removes more detergent from the laundry. If you have a problem with undissolved detergents, consider switching to liquid detergents, particularly for quick-wash programs.

Variable spin speed This lets you lower the spin speed of the machine to protect woollens, handwash-only clothes and delicate items from damage. It’s useful if the default spin speed for your machine is higher than 1,000rpm.

Delayed start Some machines allow you to set washing to start later in the day. For example, you can set a load to wash overnight, to take advantage of cheap electricity. The exact amount of time that a program can be delayed varies between one and 24 hours.

Some machines that don't have this feature can be used with a separate time switch, which will serve the same purpose. If you use delayed start at night, fit a smoke alarm nearby.

Electronic display These can be useful for a number of reasons. For example, you can check which stage of washing a program has reached and how long it has left to run. Some new models are fitted with liquid crystal display (LCD) touch screens.

These let you program a wash using a series of pop-up menus. This removes the need for the usual proliferation of dials and buttons. However, you will have to pay more for fancy displays, and they don't always make the machine any easier to use.

Overdosing Some premium models include this function to stop too much detergent being used in a wash. The machine will automatically add an extra rinse cycle if too much detergent has been taken into a wash.

Temperature guide

Always check the label to find out what temperatures you should wash clothes at. Use the information below as a guide.

* 30 degrees – At the moment this is the lowest possible wash temperature using modern detergents that contain enzymes. Around 20% of Which? readers have already followed the advice of the Energy Savings Trust and switched to washing at this cool temperature. To get the best results manufacturers recommend you buy special detergents that work at lower temperatures.
* 40 degrees – This is the temperature most people wash at. It’s suitable for cotton, linen or viscose, acrylics, acetate, wool mixtures and wool/ polyester blends -in other words most everyday items.
* 50 degrees – Some large retailers such as Marks and Spencer stipulate 50 degrees as the temperature best suited to washing clothes from their own-brand range. It’s suitable for polyester/ cotton mixtures, nylon, cotton and viscose.
* 60 degrees – A 60 degree wash is good for bed linen, towels towels and heavily soiled garments such as baby clothes. Many people only do a 60 degree once a week.
* 90 degrees – This is the hottest wash program you’ll find on most machines. It’s only suitable for white cottons and linens which show the dirt. The introduction of modern detergents and synthetic fabrics means that most people rarely use this program.

我觉得它的best buy 也就是一家之言,而且它的考核好像很少考虑价格问题。 但是我觉得它的Features explained 和 what to look out for 还是满有用的,大家可以参考以决定什么样功能适合自己。
