我觉得这首先，取决于你的条件，如果你水平够高--一流大学毕业，gpa很高，toefl或ieits也很好的话，那你可以不用中介自己申请。前十名的学校应该没问题。我同班同学就去了布里斯托。而另一个找中介的水平差不多的同学却去了利物浦。
我自己是因为，托福考的不太好，才选择了中介，我想它能提高我的命中率，当然我自己也申请了好几所学校。

Another big problem about agents is that they sent you to very shit universities because those are the only ones they could send you to. Also, some very shit universities paid agent money to get students because they can not get many here. But you deserve a better university.
A good way to apply for British universities is to get help from friends who are studying in good universities here. They can help you in a way which agent can not. They can talk to the director directly, and get special offer for you because they can give their personal references for you. The direct communications can help a lot.
For example, I helped two of my friends to come this year. One to Strathclyde and another to Stirling. Both of them applied very late (April) and I got offer for both of them in one week. One of them only had a IELTS score of 4.0. The reason for me to manage to do so is because I could phone the department every day and hurry them up. Also, I gave my personal reference for the two people over the phone.
Some agent will say you have to go for one year language course or pre Master course. It is rubbish. Both of my friends began their Master degree without waste of time on such kind of so-called pre course. The person with a lower IELTS score only went to a summer English course which began 2 months earlier than her Master degree and successfully began the Master course in September.

我觉得还是用中介好，至少他们是专家，知道怎么操作，我就知道有很多人，由于自己的失误导致没去成的。
How many of the agents have been to the UK as a student? How many years have they stayed in the UK? Will they have the ability to support you when you were in the UK? All the happy people I saw here got offers by themselves and most unhappy people here were sent by agents. To apply by yourself is the first step for you to have the ability to survive here.
I don't mean to do the whole thing totally by yourself. My idea is that it is better to get help from your friends who actually are in the UK than from the agent.

To live in the UK, you do not need to be clever, you do not need to be rich, but you need to be honest. That is very important. And you will see that is the reason why you will like here better. Be honest to yourself and be honest to others, Chinese or other nations. You can choose not to use the service of an agent, but once you used it, keep your words and contract.
The best way is to find friends who are studying in the department which you want to get in. They need to talk to the course director. Or, you can find some friends who are studying in the university which you want to get in, they may know somebody who know the director. Before you decide to accept the offer of a university, you'd better ask somebody who is studying there for his words about the university.
当然，不管你麻烦了谁，都不要忘了感谢人家，这里的电话交通都不便宜（公共汽车要人民币14块一趟，留学生一般都是用手机，也挺贵的）。想想，把打算交给中介的钱拿出1/3来谢谢这里的朋友，达到了比中介好的多的效果。
诚实的讲，请国内的朋友一定要注意这一点，其实在国内，大家互相帮忙，没觉得什末，可是当你麻烦这里的朋友的时候，不要忘了，这里的生活费接近国内的10倍，而他们大多数都是学生，可能去机场接你一次的费用就是他一个星期的饭伙钱（伦敦去一趟机场的地铁要7镑往返,一般接国际航班要等3个小时加上来回的时间，接一次人要5个小时），如果你的朋友有打工，那末意味着他要损失30镑左右。并不是英国的人情比水清，而是这里上学的人承受能力要比大家想象的低的多。
我曾经有一次经历，回国的时候，父母的朋友让我给他们的女儿带东西，她的学校在一个乡村，我早上10点出发，下午5点才到，把东西给了她就往回赶，结果还是错过了最后一班汽车，我是跟我老公两个人去的，结果只好临时找地方住店，第二天回来，那一次一共花了150镑。而那些让我带的东西不过是一些咸菜，火腿肠，方便面之类。方便面当地的商店就有，可是孩子认为国内的比较便宜
现在工作了，有了更多的能力帮助别人，也很愿意帮助别人，这也是我为什末在这个版留言的原因。但是上面的话是肺腑之言，希望大家不要反感。

为什么不到了英国以后给她寄过去呢,省钱又省力.有时候该帮一把的时候就得帮,大家都是这么过来的,在外生活都不容易.不过过分的要求一般不予理会.
我也不知道她的学校会那末远，而且每小时只有一班车。
主要是她家长希望我能去看看学校到底怎末样。
