just wanna share my exprience and im still on my way to get a career.
my first degree is language studies in China, then i got PGCE in busniss managment in Ireland, 2006 i completed my master course in Education in England. I was working in fashion retail when I was in univeristy, after my master course, I just transfered to permanant and working full time in same cloth company, also had been promoted as floor manager after few month, so in total i got 3 years retail experience. (by the way, i was working as interpreter and marketing assitant in china before i went to abroad).
now then, i left the retail job 2 months ago, because i absolutely hate the new management. after, i was staying at home for 2 months looking for job (i was very lacking tho, because lots things going on with the house at mean time). last 2 months, i realised how difficult to get a proffessional job here, special you dont have a high skill. i have been in touched by many agencies, but none of them paid much attention at my qualifications, all questions they asked me surround my previous experience, therefore , i found my potential career been narrowed in customer service area now, nothing related to my previous study. also, i feel they dont really interest in you previous working experience in china either. now, i go offer to work as travel money advisor, still shit pay, but the part time working hours is good for me at moment, so i decided to take it. i also past a bank's first interview, another assessment waiting for me now, same customer service role.
personally, i can do pretty good work in cutomer service area, but i hate customers!!! now im thinking just doing the part time to inlarge my social circle, kill some time, and waiting for september to take a part time course about accounting, then change my career gradually.
above is my exprience to share, i wont say it is good or bad. my point of view is setting up your personal goal, and you chose to live in a new environment, you have to adapt it rather then waiting for it adapts your style! if there is better chance to get a job in other nearby city,then go for it, gain exprience, then you will have much more chance to decide your life in the future. or, if you dont wanna change your current status, your choice, fair enough, then stop complain. about driving, you have to learn to drive in this country, it will give you much more freedom, trust me. good luck for everything.
