David,
DId you receive my email? I don't think you need to go to pre course. I think you can go directly for a Master degree. One of my Taiwan friends is similar to you, but he has 5 years work experiences. The department allowed him to register as a Master degree directly. So I am sure that you can do the same. Don't trust the agent.
