day 0: over-night flight to santorini (change in athens)
day 1: arrive at santorini, trip to the two volcano islands (short ferry), sunset at oia (bus journey)
day 2: sight-seeing in fira, swimming trip to red-beach/white-beach (bus journey + short ferry)
day 3: flight to athens, acropolis and surroundings
day 4: more sight seeing in athens, swimming trip to glyfada (tram journey)
day 5: day trip to delphi (3 hours each way)
day 6: morning flight back

day 1 and 2:

day 3 + 4 +5

2) time - how much time have you planned for your trip? this determines where and how many places you can go

4) www.tripadvisor.com - for recommendations on itinerary/planning, for reviews on hotels/airlines/tour companies
5) www.flickr.com - for specific sights/views you will want to see
6) friends and colleagues - for personal advice
7) availability of flights and accommodation - constraints

the above is an iterative process




there are many many many islands in 爱琴海. there are big islands like crete and rhodes, but also groups of very small islands like cyclades - of this group santorini is one, also mykonos, milos, ios etc etc. some of the islands have airports, but most require ferry to reach. ferry trips take a lot of time, flights take much less.



nearest would be italy, but still quite far away - not really 顺便 unless you are interrailing.



i also know very little, but i can only see so much in a few days - especially in greece.
