what I see is that normally research degree
(MSc) need to do one year, while taught degree can be 1-3 years(MSc).
My MSc is a taught degree, 3 years, because I did a placement, which is 1.5 yrs. So, my degree is quite long, hehe.

I recommend taught degree, for the research degree, it is much easier to get money from the uni, but it is much harder to get a job after graduation, unless you seek other resarch position in unis.

anyone knows the difference between them in detail? I simply made a terrible mistake---I don't really know there are any differences between them so I just took it for granted ,and now I don't know how to do with is,one univ give me an taught degree offer,it's the one i intended to go!

Normally, taught degree just has one year course, while research degree need to do research for another year.

"Taught Degree"是指读Course的学位，一般是在一年里完成的硕士学位 (MSc or MA, MBA etc)。在这一年里第一学期就有八门课要考，第二学期也是，第三学期毕业课题加论文。没一点喘气的机会所以有“Taught"之称。无论如何这种” Taught"是建立在书本的基础，即老师教了什么，你就在这个范围里做点应用的发挥即可达到目的。

“Research Degree"(MPhil or PhD)必须通过做研究来达到。 有时因为需要你可能要上一些课甚至考试，但这都不占主要分量。重要是通过研究你能做点”contribution"出来方可获得学位。

如果你觉得自己“读书”的能力强：教了什么还能加点东西还原回去。 那就上“Taught degree".

如果是钻研、动手能力强，有举一反三的能力就争取”Research degree".

没有必要去拿两个同等的学位除非是不同的专业。
