Each time I turn on the computer and enter the Xp , it always stucks for two or three minutes and you can not open any program, especially I have to wait for several minutes for the dialup windows to show up. I have increase the memory to 384M but seems not resolve the problem. Anyone know what is the problem and how to deal with it. BTW the CPU is celeron 1.2G. Thanks very much.

check your network configuration(i think the IP address identification is set as 'get from server')

but maybe not. just try. your CPU and RAM is ok, also check your C:drive free space

我的机子刚买不久, 是带网卡的. 不过我装了中文的Office 2000, 因为手头没有其他的中文文字处理软件, 不知这会不会和操作系统有冲突? 其他的硬盘还有近15G的空间, 应该不会是问题.

接了网卡没有连接到internet(或者局域网)也会造成开机十分缓慢， 如果这样的话，就建议拔掉网卡。

你可以试一试指定本机IP地址，启动上一定会加快

Thanks very much. I will try. Another problem is sometimes when I try to connect to the server, it always says the modem is in use or is not configured properly. But there is no problem when I checked using modem diagnostics. I am not sure whether this has something to do with the IP.
