Chinese students hurt in car crash
A group of Chinese students have been injured in a car accident on the Northumberland/Cumbria border.
Five students from Newcastle University were on their way to Newcastle Airport when the accident happened early on Saturday.
A police spokesman said it is thought the group were preparing to fly home to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
One of the students is said to be in a critical condition.
The Cumbria Police spokesman said: "The car in which the students were travelling left the A69 near the Cumbrian border.
"All five are being treated in the Cumberland Infirmary.
"However, our information is that one of them is in a critical condition."
Officers are talking to representatives from Newcastle University in an effort to contact relatives of the injured.
