In keeping with my new found specificity I will write about James, a specific Chinese living in Beijing. I wouldn't want to generalize about Chineses. I only say, that any assumptions made about the general entity known as James do not hold true for all his parts. There are molecular exceptions to the general idea of James. James lives in Beijing. James supports anti-racism. but he hates to communicate with people whose skin colors are darker than his. James says that all wars are wrong and they are bad for economy. But he secretly thinks that any death is worth his comfort but he preaches compassion and love in social get-together's. James is not religious. He despises people who believe in God. James actually contribute articles to newpapers to criticize religious activities. James has his own God, the God who does not belong to any religion. James prays on his own or with his family. He believes that his prayer does not form a religious activity. James reads books frequently. In fact he can quote passages from various sources, and this, James takes as evidence of his intellectual fortitude. James quotes and he frequently displays his knowledge by using large words and by mentioning famous people. James discusses almost everything, and he exaggerates facts to introduct his opinion. James does not tolerate ideas that are against his. James does not know the difference between knowledge and intelligence. James complains every unfortunate incidents happened to him. He thinks God should make them happen to everyone. James questions his world a lot. Though he does not challenge his perceptions and beliefs. James only displays skepticism at the counters of any stores where he is doubtful if this is the best price he can get. Jamess skepticism begins and ends in his wallet. James regards himself a big saver. When James wants to form an opinion he does not open his eyes to the world and to his experiences but he calls a relative to see through another person's eyes and experiences. James adopts critical thoughts because he is not confident in his own mind. James is astute. James secretly knows his own quality of mind. James is married and he has kids. He thinks his genes are so precious that they need to be preserved for future generations. Jamess genetic 'quality' will be propagated into eternity. James teaches his children to be just like James. They will become one of the many, parts to a greater whole and this is his most comforting ideal. James does not like to stand apart. He likes conforming and fitting in. James hates violence, especially when it is directed towards him and his precious offspring. James believes in evolutionary and differentiation of humanity. James thinks it is vital that males maximize the number of their offspring. It is therefore rightful that he secretly dates two girls who are 20 years younger than him. James has plenty. James is fat on the products of his work. His very definition of happiness entails plentiful resources. It is therefore impossible for James to ignore his instincts. He eats often, even if it will eventually kill him. James cannot keep his mouth closed. This is his evidence that he is successful and worthy of praise and imitation. A large frig is a good enough substitute for an empty head for James. James has no car or a big home. James believes the things he owns are not examples of his value. James adorns his life with symbols and wears labels of praise to hide the hollow interior. James lives life in fear that people will discover his inner secret. James fears people like me. James mocks all those who need his authorization. He finds things to trouble them with. James needs this to remain sane. James believes only power and money deserve respect. James supports Democracy. James reads the paper and is well-misinformed. James does not question the institutions of his society, of his culture, of his nation. James fears being alone; he is unable to stand in solitude, in a place where nobody can help him. James pretends like he cares. And he finds it hard to provide when someone wants help from him. James does not believe in altruism and compassion mainly because he thinks there's no assurances that they will be offered to him in his time of need. James is selfish but he believes that he is 'good'. James believes that he has a vivid social life. He spent most of his time on the internet chantting with people he never met. James believes in virtual community. But he disciplines his children not to believe what he believes because it's not suitable for their age. James likes to take advantages, especially from work. James claims expenses for his shoes, his computer, his vacation travel, his pet diet. He believes he deserves it. When James checks out a hotel he will never leave anything in the room that he can take away. James is pathetic, but don't tell James that. He'll explain to you that everyone is the same, all over the world. If you try to tell James what he does is wrong he will accuse you of hypocritical to maintain his believes and keep on pretending he is a 'good' man. |
