Maybe it really depends....

Some people from industry gaving seminars to us just said they want Msc much more than Phd, because they think usually phd is more research oriented....

But, I think at least you are right that a Msc degree usually can't put you in a better postition than Bsc, if you have got a Bsc in UK.

Btw, people who are intended for a PHD should select MPhil, not Msc.

反正在英国找工作，经验永远比学历主要，MASTER这种东西一点用都没有，即使你原来在国内有工作经验，英国这帮傻鸟也不认的。
所以，千万不用来英国读MASTER，PHD也不用来，来了就两个字：后悔。

说得太绝对了一点,对于以后要回国发展的人来说,到这边读Master总的来说是很划算的事,两年时间不是一般的财富啊.

我说的是对于那些幻想在英国读个MASTER然后在这边找工作的人。

不过即使是回国发展，我也看不出来这边的MASTER有什么划算的，你很久没回国了吧。我MASTER时期的同学回国都还是靠老关系又回到原来的老单位工作，什么都没变。你说划算在哪里？国内的就业市场现在的行情，凶猛得很呢，英国的硕士实在没什么了不起的。

我同意bachelor是学习知识的能力，但不同意master是应用知识的能力。我的好多好多朋友包括我自己在内的经验：（如果bachelor和master选的同样的科），当你读完了bachelor继续念master的时候就会发现，哦master一年学的竟然和bachelor的学科一模一样，就是本科三年的总结，有时候你还会惊喜的发现，连留的assessment都完全相同。除非，你选master的时候是有实验的那种，可能你就会锻炼到应用知识的能力了。如果你想在英国找工作的话，英国人一般是看你的first degree成绩，而不会看你的master成绩的。但是国内的情况，不用我说你自己也明白吧。而且我完全同意楼上的说法'反正在英国找工作，经验永远比学历主要，MASTER这种东西一点用都没有',这可是真真正正的大实话．但你要回国发展的话，我劝你还是读吧！其意思也就不言而喻了。

i am really surprised that you studied exactly the same tihng in your Master's, there are two possibilities, 1) your UG course is too advanced, so you learnt all the advanced stuff already, which is very good or 2) your Master's course is crap, because they teaches UG stuff...i hope you are the prior case rather than latter...

i certainly think a Master's degree does have a lot to offer, i am doing MSc Econ, althought i had a First, but i still struggle quite hard to get through the course....however, despite of the toughness of my course...i did learn a lot more advanced stuff than i did before, and i learnt a lot more application of theories to practical use...which certainly enriched my knowledge...

second point, if you are only thinking about getting a job, a Master's in here does not help much in most of the time...but it still does in some cases, for example, a lot of leading economics specialists firm are looking for at least MSc with strong academic background candidates...

in addition, after you have landed on a job, your experience of doing a Master's will gradually payoff, because you will have a much better understanding of the subject that you studied...you would be able to come up with better ideas than those nerds...therefore, i would say if your Master's is merely a piece of qualification, it is bound to be useless from the outset...but if it is ia good course in a top school, and you did learn from it, it is an invaluable experience...

also, Britain IS selling its education...but they only reason why they can sell it is because it is good...ofcuz not all uni not all courses are good...but there are certainly good courses around...you just need to do your homework first to find out the best course for your future...otherwise, how can you comment on the usefulness of something that is not fit for you...all that matters is fitness...
