Genoa＊s fight to be reinstated into Serie A looks to be over after their latest appeal was rejected.

The port club this week turned to the Genoa TAR, a civil court, in a bid to overturn earlier rulings made by the Italian football authorities.

But the Genoa TAR have today stated that they do not have the jurisdiction to order a re-trial, meaning that the club will start the campaign as a Serie C side and with a three point penalty.

Genoa were relegated to the Third Division earlier this summer after they were found guilty of alleged match fixing last term.

The initial ruling by the CAF court, a sporting one, was then upheld by the Lazio TAR on appeal.

Today＊s judgement should bring an end to a summer of controversy and confusion, seeing as Genoa did successfully get the publication of the new term＊s fixtures postponed.

It＊s now unclear what Genoa, who have always maintained their innocence, will do now even if they could take the matter to the European courts.

Police in Genoa are currently on high alert given that some fans went on the rampage in the city following their first failed appeal.
