Italy striker Cristiano Lucarelli, top scorer in Serie A last season with 24 goals, wants to discuss his future with Livorno president Aldo Spinelli after being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Lucarelli also scored in the 2-1 opening-day victory over Lecce on Saturday.

Asked by Italy's Sky Sport about media reports of an approach from Tottenham, Livorno captain Lucarelli said: 'I can't deny there have been contacts.

'I need to talk face-to-face with president Spinelli as always.'

The Italian news agency ANSA said it had been told Spurs had made an offer of £2.73million for the former Torino and Lecce striker.

'Up until now I have not considered any offers of a move but now I am going to take 48 hours,' Lucarelli told ANSA.

Spinelli said Lucarelli would not be leaving Livorno. 'If he wanted to go he should have told me (before) the start of the season. Now, as long as I am here, he won't be going,' said Spinelli.
