i think the companies (eg e2save) who offer cashback are not in any financial risk coz in the first place, it's the network (eg o2) offers them money in return of signning customers on behalf of network. Those companies are actually middle men, they passed a part of money they received from network to customers.

All the phone related to the free line rental are old model and therefore they won't be able to sell anyway. So, i would think there's agreement between phone manufacturer and outlet company/network regarding the old model phone. This would minimize the financial exposure of outlet companies as well. We all know there's calculated risk for phone manufacture business coz new model's aways developed and the cost of handling old model have to be considered in the planning stage.

So the question's down to WHY network (o2 for example) is willing to give money to outlet company (e2save for example) in return of customers?

If that's the financial model they used, i wouldnot see any risk of a customers as long as network company won't get busted.

I didn't say outlet company won't get bankrupted, but this's not the result they offer proper cashback deal.
