Mandarin is the official language in China, Singapore and Taiwan, and used worldwide by ethnic Chinese, and as such its teaching provides a useful tool for children of Chinese origins to understand their ancestral cultures. The school is also opened to children from all walks of life and it is hoped that Mandarin learning will give a new generation a feel for a language and culture that is practised by nearly a quarter of the worlds people. |
