目前四川地震灾区的救援工作仍然在紧张地进行。海外华人也在急切地关注灾区救援和恢复的进展。我们知道，面对如此突如其来的剧变，儿童少年是最无助的人群之一，他们面临的，不仅可能有直接的伤亡、失去亲人和家园的痛苦、而且还可能面临长久的精神创伤。我们希望灾区的儿童，能得到及时的医疗和精神治疗；同时我们还希望孩子们能及时恢复上学。作为海外留学生和华人，我们深知教育的重要性。因此英华园决定支持慈善机构母爱桥 为四川地震受灾儿童捐款的倡议。

母爱桥是英国注册的慈善机构，其从事的慈善活动之一，就是帮助中国贫困地区的儿童、孤儿、残疾儿童。英华园相信母爱桥能为我们的捐款找到最合适的用途，帮助四川地震灾区最需要救助的儿童，并利用其海内外的网络，为孩子们找到最好的帮助。

母爱桥提供的捐款频道，设立在筹款网站 justgiving 上。这一频道，原来是由一支为母爱桥筹款的爱丁堡马拉松接力队伍设立。现在母爱桥把这个频道，作为为四川地震灾区儿童捐款的专门频道，所得款项，将用于相关的救助项目。

作为在英国注册的慈善机构，母爱桥在 justgiving 网站上开设的捐款频道 可以获得英国税务局的 Gift Aid。如果你是英国的纳税人(包括打工的学生)，请在捐款时在“是否是英国纳税人”上打勾，这样母爱桥可获得 28% 的来自 Gift Aid 的额外款项，即如果捐款 10 镑，母爱桥可以得到 12 镑以上(justgiving 会扣除部份手续费)。

RE: URGENT CALL – SAVE CHILDREN FROM CHINESE EARTHQUAKE

The death toll caused by earthquake is nearly 12,000 and looks set to rise in the disaster area- SiChuan. 10,000 people were thought to remain buried and massive landslides had buried roads to outlying villages. A lot of pupils are buried by the collapsed school buildings.

We spoke to the local authorities that water, clothes, medicine, and food are mostly needed. Long haul travel is not recommended at this moment due to seriously damaged local traffic.

To help children and orphanages in the disaster area, along with Chinese Embassy, Mother Bridge of Love (MBL) is making an urgent appeal to all the friends and colleagues to donate money for the disaster relief. We thank for friends who called, donated money and shared their concerns. We call for more people to join our rescue action.

Last year, we donated money to the flood-hit area in Sichuan directly. We will guarantee that 100% of our donation will be sent to Sichuan again to urgently save the life of Children. Our focus will be helping children to recover from physical and physiological damage.
